A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME
Can you ever REALLY be a former pastor? I get that all the time. Well, yes and no. Most of my work infuses spiritual principles into everyday scenarios. I just don't use a pulpit or have a board of deacons to tell me I can't speak life into a pornstar or love into a prostitute.
I am proud to say I survived my suicide attempt. My struggle with depression lasted for over 15 years until I finally began my recovery in my late twenties. I suffered with childhood obesity, so when I work with clients on issues around body image, self-esteem, food and self care – I REALLY get it. I also want to be sure you never get to the place I found myself in.
I love a gold star. Give me an A* over an A any day. I would weep with joy at a certificate or medal. When I wasn't being the clown to get attention, I was the teacher's pet. I’m a people pleaser, a perfectionist, and a Scorpio too. I’m effectively a classic ‘type A’ personality, I hold my hands up.
It kind of explains how I often found myself over delivering, over promising and over scrutinizing everything. I pushed myself constantly to reach the incredibly high expectations I had of myself – both personally and professionally. Burn-out, unhealthy diets, exhaustion, multiple plate spinning – it was all pretty much inevitable.
Now I channel my energy and perfectionism into delivering exceptional coaching and experiences for my clients and the self love practices I teach are all the things I used to heal myself and continue to use to this day.
I regularly share my story and speak about the importance of self love and healthy relationships. A personal highlight was speaking at National Urban League's Annual Conference for Young Professionals.
I am a creator and curator of experiences both professionally and personally. I believe that to truly transform you need to have the experience and that is why my coaching, retreats and workshops all have experiences at their heart.
As a best-selling author, I have a number of books on finding purpose and love. As well as my own blog, I’m the lifestyle editor for Kontrol Magazine and a contributor for other publications like Sister 2 Sister Magazine.
